G1 Climax 30 Day 14 B Block

Preview: NJPW – G1 Climax 30 Day 14 B Block (10/11/20)

G1 Day 14 features a huge main event as Tetsuya Naito faces EVIL in a rematch from Jingu and continues the biggest rival of the year for NJPW.  Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto compete in the semi-main event with a sprinkling of other good matches on this show.  Let’s get into the card for G1 Day 14

YOSHI-HASHI (2) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (6)

In the only two singles matches between Sabre and YOSHI-HASHI, ZSJ has come away with the win in both.  One of those came in the G1 back in 2017 but it has been some time since these two men have wrestled 1 on 1 and this is a very different YOSHI-HASHI than we have seen in past, this could be the first time we see HASHI beat ZSJ.

Toru Yano (6) vs KENTA (4)

This match has more stakes than one would expect thanks to Yano’s strong start to the G1 Climax.  This is the first time these two have wrestled in NJPW with their last match coming in 2013 when KENTA defended his GCH Championship against Yano.  Both competitors have chance quite a lot since then and Yano may well get his win back here with how his G1 has panned out so far.  That said, KENTA needs points to stay in contention and we don’t think he falls out of contention just yet.

Juice Robinson (6) vs SANADA(6)WFVuPD9

Another big match in the G1 between two men looking to stay alive with a chance to win the block.  They are 1-1 in their previous G1 encounters with Robinson walking away with the win last year.  That shows how close these two are in the pecking order as both have been at a similar level for years but now is the time for both to stake their claim and win their G1 Block.

Hiroshi Tanahashi (6) vs Hirooki Goto (6)

These two men were young lions together way back in the mid 00s and here they are in the G1 still going at it all these years later.  They have had a number of big matches against one another in that 15 year span with Tanahashi winning most of them.  Goto will sense his opportunity with Tanahashi in his current state and he’ll want to get a win here over his old rival.

Tetsuya Naito (10) vs EVIL(8)

Naito and EVIL collide once again after their series of title matches during the summer.  NJPW was rocked to its core when EVIL won the New Japan Cup and joined Bullet Club, things only got more surprising when he won the double championship from Naito.  While Naito has since reclaimed his titles he will have to be at his best to beat EVIL here and continue his great run in the G1.
