Lars Sullivan Makes WWE Return on SmackDown

Lars Sullivan WWE SmackDown

Following over a year of inactivity, the WWE Universe became witness to the return of Lars Sullivan. On this week’s episode of SmackDown, The Miz and John Morrison faced the team of Jeff Hardy and Matt Riddle. The match concluded with Riddle picking up the win for his team. However, neither he nor Hardy had much time to celebrate. “The Freak” of WWE made his return on the blue show, his trademark aggression still very much intact, and marched down the ramp.

What followed could only be described as total annihilation. He struggled off Riddle’s kicks, laying out the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winner with authority. Hardy fared no better, as the legendary tag team wrestler also found himself laid out by Sullivan. Not even The Miz, who failed to escape with the help of Morrison, was spared. Morrison couldn’t bring himself to help his friend, as “The Most Must-See WWE Superstar” became the latest victim of the returning Sullivan. In short order, SmackDown became a more dangerous brand for long-standing and new stars on the brand alike.

SmackDown marks the first WWE appearance of Lars Sullivan since June of 2019. On this date’s episode of Monday Night RAW, he faced Lucha House Party in a handicap match. During the match in question, Sullivan sustained a knee injury. Little was revealed about the injury in question. Nonetheless, it was reported that he would be out of action for several months.

Sullivan made his initial main roster debut in April of 2019, when he attacked a recently retired Kurt Angle on an episode of RAW. From there, he began to feud with several notable stars, including The Hardy Boyz. His work in NXT beforehand was also notable, as he competed in the six-man ladder match for the North American Championship at TakeOver: New Orleans.
