Preview: NJPW – G1 Climax 30 Day 10 B Block (10/6/20)

G1 Climax 30 Day 10 B Block

G1 Day 10 once again features B Block action with Hiroshi Tanahashi main eventing against KENTA and Tetsuya Naito in the penultimate bout against YOSHI-HASHI. We have one of the less stellar lineups for this event but the star power of Naito and Tanahashi will keep things ticking over.  Let’s get into the card for G1 Day 10.

Hirooki Goto (2) vs Toru Yano (6)

Two members of the CHAOS faction square off in this one.  The last time these two men were in a ring against each other we saw Goto’s team win and defend the NEVER Six-Man Championships.  Goto also has two wins in the previous G1 meetings between these two competitors.  Goto is in desperate need of points at this stage of the tournament so expect him to try his hardest to get the win

SANADA (2) vs Zack Sabre Jr. (4)

These two men have had a number of singles matches since first crossing paths in 2018.   While ZSJ is currently 3-2 up in their series that does include matches outside of NJPW where Sabre would have the home crowd advantage.  In NJPW SANADA leads 2-1 including winning both previous G1 bouts between the two.  We figure SANADA has to be well positioned going into the final night of the block so he can’t afford to drop points

EVIL (4) vs Juice Robinson (6)

Robinson will need every bit of fight he has to combat EVIL in this one. As a former world champion EVIL has standards to meet and he has Bullet Club to help him out whenever he needs.  Robinson will go it alone but he has never backed down from a challenge.  This could go either way as both are close in points but EVIL may be the more likely winner.

YOSHI-HASHI (2) vs Tetsuya Naito (6)

Naito has a lot to lose here against HASHI and that kind of pressure could lead to a slip up.  HASHI is coming off the biggest moment of his career as he recently won his first title in NJPW and he would love nothing more than to continue this momentum and pin the IWGP double champion although that would require YOSHI-HASHI beating Naito for the first time ever.

Hiroshi Tanahashi (4) vs KENTA (4)

These men met in the G1 last year with KENTA emerging as the winner of that first time ever clash between the former ace of NOAH and the former ace of NJPW.  Since then KENTA has embraced his darker side and gone from strength to strength so our money is on him repeating that feat.  With both men tied for 4 points, this is a crucial match in the tournament especially as the winner gets a tiebreaker advantage should both men tie in the end.
