#AndNEW: Purple Haze Win AJPW All Asia Tag Team Championships

Purple Haze

The All Asia Tag Championship is considered the secondary tag team championship within All Japan. The former champions known as Sweeper (Jake Lee and Koji Iwamoto) lost their tag titles to the outside of AJPW tag team of Yuko Miyamoto and Isami Kodaka. They won the belts at the beginning of the pandemic era ar AJPW’s sole event in March before dropping them at a memorial show for the legend known as Atsushi Aoki to Purple Haze (Izanagi & Zeus)

One of the stars that showcased promise as of recently is the new Izanagi, a wrestler who was known as Atsushi Maruyama if you watched early 2010’s NOAH. Izanagi showcased tons of promise early on, even pinning Kento Miyahara (Ace of All Japan) in a tag team match in a monumental upset. Izanagi is part of the faction known as “Purple Haze”. Alongside fellow Tag Competitor and occasional main-event player Zeus. This tag-team would dominate against former teams, including the new duo of Shotaro Ashino and Yusuke Kodama.

At the memorial show, just before the main event. Yuko Miyamoto and Isami Kodaka would defend their belts against Zeus and Izanagi. This would be an emotional bout for both tag teams, with both of them putting on a great match. But the result would be a major upset with Izanagi and Zeus becoming All Asia Tag Champions. This is the first time that Izanagi has held championship gold within All Japan. This is Zeus’s first time with this tag championship. Zeus has held the other tag titles for this promotion however and is a known tag specialist.
