ROH to Tape Roundtable Discussion on BLM, Racism in Wrestling, and More

Tony Khan ROH

Said to be the brainchild of wrestlers, Kenny King, Caprice Coleman, and Shane Taylor, Ring of Honor will be taping a roundtable to discuss the Black Lives Matter movement, police brutality, racism in wrestling, and much more. The roundtable of King, Coleman, Taylor, and ROH play-by-play announcer/commentator Ian Riccaboni, who will serve as the host, will also feature ROH stars and current world tag team champs, Jay Lethal and Jonathan Gresham, discussing some of the most prevalent issues affecting the black community and the country as a whole. The roundtable will be posted on ROH’s YouTube page and may also be available on Honor Club.

In addition to the discussion, the roundtable will feature questions submitted by fans, that Riccaboni will ask each of the wrestlers.

Representing some of ROH’s finest, the five man roundtable will feature individuals who have a wealth of wrestling experience. Specifically in Ring of Honor, all of these men save for Coleman, have held titles with Lethal in particular, carving out his spot as one of the best black wrestlers to never have wrestled for WWE. Lethal, King and Taylor, who has been very vocal about racism in wrestling and the barriers black wrestlers still face in the industry, are all former world television champions. King and Lethal have held the title twice. Lethal, who has the longest reign as television champ in history, is also a 2x world champion in ROH, at one point holding both belts simultaneously. Alongside Gresham, Lethal is currently one-half of the world tag team champions as well, a title that earned him the distinction as a grand slam winner. King is also a former tag team champion, winning the title alongside Rhett Titus in 2012.

On the roundtable, King tweeted, “I am very excited for this. I think this will bring some much needed honesty and positivity during these times. Please keep your questions coming!”

According to Riccaboni, this will be the first-ever ROH roundtable, a designation that suggests it will not however, be the last. And given the importance of these topics, having more roundtables with various ROH talent can only be a positive step forward for the company and wrestling as a whole.
