Sammy Guevara Suspended By AEW Over Past Comments

Sammy Guevara

On Monday, old audio emerged from a podcast featuring All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Sammy Guevara following a WWE Tryout in 2016, where he made comments in regards to Sasha Banks stating “(w)hen I was at WWE the other week I just wanted to go f**king rape that woman”. It didn’t take long for the audio clip to go viral, leading to Sammy Guevara apologizing and taking to the WWE Superstar in person.  Guevara has also released a video apology

The WWE Superstar and current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion took to Twitter to confirm she did in fact have a discussion with Sammy Guevara about the weight of his words.

Sammy’s current employer, AEW, acted swiftly and announced on Social Media that they “strongly condemn the extremely offensive and hurtful words” of Guevara and that he was now “suspended without pay until further notice.” Sammy has been ordered to undergo sensitivity training and that during his suspension his salary will be donated to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville, with his “future status within the company…re-evaluaed” upon completion.
