Preview: WWE NXT (6/17/20)

Sasha Banks & Bayley vs Shotzi Blackheart & Tegan Nox

It’s almost Wednesday, you know what that means (godspeed, Luke Harper). WWE NXT is almost upon us once more, with yet another round of its weekly episodic programming.  In what has become traditional NXT fashion during the COVID-19 era, only one match has been advertised in advance.  Thankfully, it looks to be an excellent women’s tag team match.  Don’t believe me? Check it out.

NXT Tag Team Championships: Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) (C) vs Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango)

NXT’s tag team division is in an interesting spot as they deal with the recent departures of top teams as well as absences caused by the coronavirus pandemic.  Two weeks ago Breezango made their surprise return to NXT as part of a triple threat number one contenders tag team match.  They came away with the win and now look to capture some elusive tag team gold.  Imperium, on the other hand, will look to bring their factions dominance to another brand and keep the titles for as long as possible.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: Bayley & Sasha Banks (C) vs Shotzi Blackheart & Tegan Nox

NXT

Sasha Banks and Bayley successfully defended their newly acquired WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Backlash.  This week, they’re looking to defend the gold in the place which made them the wrestlers they are today: NXT.  Both Sasha and Bayley helped build the black and yellow brand into what it is.  Two of the greatest holders of the NXT Women’s Championship of all time, they are always welcome back.  This week, they square off with two of the best, young and talented women’s wrestlers around today.  Wales’ own Girl with the Shiniest Wizard, Tegan Nox and The Ballsy Badass, Shotzi Blackheart.  They have successfully established themselves as top contenders to the Women’s Tag Team Championships.  Can they perhaps capitalize on the ongoing, background feud of Banks and Bayley? Divide and conquer, my friends.  Make sure you don’t miss this one.

Not Announced but Expected

More will likely be announced in advance of the show, so this preview will be regularly updated between now and the time of the show.  Here are some likely segments:

– A follow-up on Karrion Kross and Scarlett Bordeaux‘s mind-games against NXT Champion, Adam Cole.

– More on Finn Balor‘s feud with Keith Lee.
