Preview: Monday Night RAW (5/18/20)

Monday Night RAW

WWE returns with another behind-closed-doors edition of Monday Night RAW.  This is the first episode following Becky Lynch‘s bombshell announcement last week.  Much of the fallout from the announcement will probably take place tonight.  That being said, what does this week’s RAW have in-store for you? Well, let’s dive in and find out.

Street Profits And Viking Raiders to Face Off…. In An Axe-Throwing Contest

Where do we even begin with this one? This might just be the first ever axe-throwing contest we have covered here at Last Word on Pro Wrestling.  In fact, it almost certainly is.  In a clear contest of strength, the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) take on the Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar) in an axe-throwing contest.  An axe-throwing contest.  The physical, literal throwing of an actual axe.  Thankfully there is no audience in attendance.  We’ll see who comes out on top between the more axe-friendly Vikings and the hype men.

Women’s Tag Team Championship: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross (C) vs The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay)

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross became two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions at WrestleMania XXXVIThe IIconics (Billie Kay and Peyton Royce) were the second ever holders of the titles – dropping the belts to Bliss and Cross at WrestleMania XXXV.  Just last week, they made their long-awaited return to RAW, where they appeared on on a special edition of “A Moment of Bliss”.  The two teams then had a non-title match, with the IIconics grabbing the victory.  As is usually the case, those who defeat the champions get a title shot and that’s where we are.  Can the iconic Australian duo reclaim their gold? You’ll have to tune in to find out.

Drew McIntyre vs Smackdown’s King Corbin

In a SmackDown versus RAW type match, RAW’s WWE Universal Champion, Drew McIntyre comes face-to-face with SmackDown’s King Corbin.  Drew has been killing it as of late.  He has truly established himself as a top babyface and it’s only a shame he doesn’t have a crowd in attendance.  They would be eating out the palm of his hand right now.  Whereas McIntyre has been killing it, Corbin has been killing people.  At Money in the Bank 2020, he seemingly attempted to throw Aleister Black and Rey Mysterio off the top of Titan Tower.  Thankfully, there was a platform there to save the day… and their lives.  Now these two giants meet in the ring for an ultimate battle of good versus evil.  What will happen? Some kind of foul play is to be expected (is Seth Rollins really finished with Drew?) Ultimately, we will have to tune into USA Network to find out.

Not Announced But Expected

As has been the case with WWE shows recently, only a few segments have been announced in advance.  Here is a collection of events which might take place on tonight’s RAW.

– A new direction for the women’s division

– Follow up on Randy Orton‘s challenge to Edge

– What did Bobby Lashley want to talk about with MVP?

– Will a depressed Seth Rollins maim anyone this week?

These are all storylines expected to be continued tonight.  In order to know what continues, what ends and what begins, you will have to tune into WWE RAW on USA Network at 20:00 EST.
