ROH Cancels 18th Anniversary, Past vs Present Due to Coronavirus

ROH 18th Anniversary

The hits just keep on coming. On a day that saw the sports world absolutely shaken by announcements of cancellations, postponements and a reality of events without fans, Ring of Honor became the most recent sporting company to announce cancellation of events. As reported by Ryan Satin and Bryan Alvarez, ROH has opted to cancel this weekend’s highly anticipated 18th Anniversary and Past vs Present shows set to emanate live from Sam’s Town Live in Las Vegas.

The tweet goes on to note that “Additional information will be provided as soon as possible regarding refunds and potential rescheduling of the events that were set to transpire this weekend…Once again, thank you for understanding and we truly appreciate your continued patronage and support.”

In the wrestling world, the announcement of ROH cancelling the 18th Anniversary and Past vs Present shows comes after WWE moved SmackDown from Detroit to the Performance Center, wXw and Prestige Wrestling canceled their WrestleMania Week shows, EVOLVE announced the postponement of this weekend’s shows until May, OTT‘s ScrapperMania was canceled for this weekend, and companies worldwide are scrambling to figure out what to do next in light of this growing pandemic. At this time, some companies seem committed to holding shows as long as possible such as GCW and the Collective, which at this time, is planning on going through with its WrestleMania shows independent of what WWE decides to do. Though as we’re learning with the coronavirus, things are not only changing by the day but in some cases, by the minute.
