Report: The APA Slated for 2020 WWE Hall of Fame Class

Wrestlevotes, the Twitter account who has broken multiple Hall of Fame announcements over the years (including this year) has revealed another name reportedly expected to be announced for this year’s 2020 Class of the WWE Hall of Fame. While it was reported that JBL would be entering this year, it appears now he won’t be going in as a singles wrestler (yet) but in fact will be going in as part of the tag team APA (which would make Ron Simmons the next 2x WWE Hall of Famer).

Justin “Hawk” Bradshaw (later JBL) and Ron Simmons were finding themselves in a rut by the end of the 1990s, but the pairing of the two as the enforcers for the Undertaker and his Ministry of Darkness, as the Acolytes, won over the hearts of the WWE Universe with their rough and tumble approach in the ring.

The duo had a 7-year run together (not including sporadic reunions at big shows), first as the Acolytes, and then as the Acolytes Protection Agency (APA) once their union with the Ministry ended. As mercenaries for hire, the APA were frequently pulled away from the poker games to take people out for other WWE Superstars, with a gimmick that ran wild at the end of the Attitude Era and in the early days of the Ruthless Aggression Era. In total, the APA become 3x WWE World Tag Team Champions.

So far WWE has announced a few inductees, including Batista, nWo (Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall & X-Pac), and The Bella Twins, with New Japan legend Jushin “Thunder” Liger and “British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith still reportedly set for induction.
