#AndNEW: AAW’s Landscape Changed at Windy City Classic XV

Windy City Classic

AAW is one of the top independent promotions in the world that is based in Illinois. Very recently, AAW had their biggest show and final show of the year. Windy City Classic XV which was live-streamed on FITE TV. Today, I will be giving you the results of the titles matches.

Kris Statlander Becomes AAW Women’s Champion After Defeating Jessica Havok.

Kris Statlander is becoming a common name to know, especially with her recent signing with AEW. But in AAW, Kris Statlander was involved in a feud with the current champion, Jessicka Havok. These two would be the main event of Unstoppable with Jessicka Havok beating her in 10 minutes. In the next bout between these two, Havok wasn’t so lucky as Kris Statlander would defeat Jessicka Havok to become AAW Women’s Champion for the first time in her career. This is the first title that Statlander has held for the company, but Kris is a trailblazer after facing off against Sami Callihan in August. The future might hold one more rematch between the two to finish the score.

Rohit Raju/Hakim Zane Defeats PACO To Become Heritage Champion.

Windy City Classic

One of the more heartwarming stories of AAW earlier this year was the rise of the underdog PACO. PACO has been with AAW since 2014 and in his career, he didn’t accomplish anything except being the underdog that went up against some of the best that AAW had to offer. Often being involved in multi-man matches on the card and always getting super close to becoming champion but always losing, this would last until November’s Show, PACO would become champion after beating Jake Something and his first opponent was Hakim Zane or known by impact fans at Rohit Raju of the Desi Hit Squad. Hakim Zane who hasn’t done much for AAW of note, being involved in two matches that are eight months apart. He defeated Myron Reed at the previous event to challenge PACO for the title. Hakim would defeat PACO, ending PACO’s 28 Day Reign with the championship and gaining Hakim his first championship in AAW.

Mance Warner Defeats Josh Alexander To Become AAW Heavyweight Champion

Since Mance Warner has been in AAW. He has always been in high profile matches, a feud with Jimmy Jacobs, garnering a mask to be known as “The Masked Good Brother #3” and facing off for the Heritage and World Championships. Losing both matches and facing off against Nick Gage at the previous event in a 10000 Bounty Challenge. Josh Alexander on the other hand who has been signed to Impact! Wrestling for a bit has been one of the top AAW stars since 2014 when Alexander won the World title for the first time. Since then, Alexander would continue to face off against everyone in AAW. Taking all comers until leaving AAW in 2018. In May of 2019, he would make his return in the company, defeat guys like Adam Brooks, Ace Austin, and Josh Briggs until getting involved in the AAW Annual Jim Lynam Memorial Tournament. Alexander would win that tournament and face off against Sami Callihan for the world championship and win the title to give him his second reign.

In the main event of Windy City Classic XV, the luck that Josh Alexander has been having since the beginning of the year has run out as this would be the night he would lose the AAW Heavyweight Championship to Mance Warner. Ending the 92 Reign as champion. This is the first time Mance Warner has held gold in AAW with the landscape completely changed for AAW going into 2020, who knows what the future might hold for the promotion that has been redefining Wrestling one show at a time.
