#AndNEW: Nagisa Nozaki Wins Regina Di WAVE Championship

Nagisa Nozaki

Pro Wrestling WAVE’s Nagisa Nozaki has captured the Regina Di WAVE championship for the first time after defeating Takumi Iroha.  Marvelous’ Iroha won the title by winning Catch The Wave and served as an “outsider” champion, a familiar trope in Japan that allows a company to build up one of their own to win the title.

Iroha had made four successful defences against WAVE talents like Sakura Hirota, Ryo Mizunami, Yuki Miyazaki and HIRO’e who recently announced her retirement.  Nozaki being given the nod to beat Iroha shows that WAVE are staking their future on her shoulders.

The build to this match saw Nozaki go to Marvelous and beat Iroha by putting her to sleep with a coquina clutch. Safe to say Iroha taking a loss in Marvelous is a rarity and was a sign that Nozaki was going to be a real threat to Takumi’s reign.

Despite being just 29 Nagisa Nozaki actually debuted in 2006 for the now defunct NEO Ladies and was trained by Las Cachorras Orientales member Etsuko Mita.  She stopped wrestling 2013 but came back in 2017 as a member of WAVE and finally captured her first title ever when she won the tag team titles with Yuki Miyazaki in 2018.  Now Nozaki has added a second title to her name as she is the new Regina Di WAVE champion and is easily the “ace” of WAVE.
