Teal Piper, Daughter of Rowdy Roddy, Signs with WOW

The late great children of WWE Hall of Famer Rowdy Roddy Piper always seemed to distance themselves in some way from the world of professional wrestling. His son, Colton Toombs, entered the world of MMA and briefly flirted with pro wrestling, but his daughters – Ariel, Falon, and Anastacia – were kept a world apart. But now Ariel – going under the ring name Teal Piper – is entering the world her father became an icon in. It was recently announced she’d be making her wrestling debut with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) at AEW All Out as part of the women’s Casino Battle Royale to determine the first #1 contender for the AEW Women’s Championship, but it appears her dream goes far beyond the one appearance.

In an interview with TMZ on Saturday, Teal Piper revealed that she has signed with Women of Wrestling and has been training with the WOW staff in preparation of her All Out appearance. She’s set to debut with WOW at the tapings for the upcoming second season of WOW on AXS-TV (and 6th season overall).

In the TMZ interview, Piper acknowledges the hardships she’ll face entering the business as the daughter of one of the world’s most beloved (and/or hated) heels of all time, but that she’s hoping to make a name for herself instead of trying to be the next Roddy Piper. While former Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey was bestowed her father’s legendary leather jacket to use for her WWE debut, don’t expect Teal to wear her father’s heirloom anytime soon. “I do have the jacket,” she told TMZ, “I do not plan on wearing on it. To me, that is my father’s jacket. I was very honored that Ronda Rousey wore that jacket, but at the same time, I wanna be me. It’s going to be a lot to distinguish me already as ‘just his kid’, and they’re big shoes to fill. Huge shoes to fill. I’d never expect to have his career or be the next Rowdy Roddy Piper, I want to be the next me. And I don’t feel that like starting off wearing his gear sends that message.”
