Last night at Arena Mexico, a new championship was introduced to the CMLL audience. The company introduced the Universal Amazon title in what was to be decided in a historic one fall match between Dalys and La Metalica, two Rudas going for the gold and the benefit of holding the title for one year until either woman would defend the title next year.
As we saw, the match, which lasted less than ten minutes, saw the ever so dominant Dalys take the win and become the first Universal De Amazonas champion. Dalys earned her title match by winning a multi-woman match on the August 9th edition of CMLL Viernes Espectaculares in Arena Mexico. Dalys defeated nine other women to earn the title shot while La Metalica also defeated 9 other women in the first round multi-woman match to earn the title shot. La Metalica won her match on the August 2nd edition of CMLL at Arena Mexico.
Unfortunately, due to some technical difficulties, the match and its stipulations could not be heard as the sound was off until the actual start of the match. Dalys won the match with a devastating verticle suplex that would finish La Metalica. After the match, Dalys briefly celebrated with the legend, Negro Casas. By winning the title she also earned the number contender spot for a match against Marcela for the CMLL Women’s Championship as well as being the flag bearer for Mexico for the Gran Prix tournament coming up shortly.
La Metalica was injured during the match and was taken out on a stretcher by the CMLL medical team. The commentary team mentioned she may have had her neck hurt after taking the suplex from Dalys. Regardless, La Metalica proved to be a tough competitor and showed the world why she was a force to be reckoned with.
Dalys has been in the industry since October 2009 and has wrestled over 600 matches in her career. Shes wrestled in Japan for the REINA promotion at Korakuen Hall and will be wrestling again with REINA soon as it was announced she would be wrestling on September 12th at the promotion. Dalys is a former CMLL World Women’s Champion and during her reign, held the title for nearly 1000 days. You can watch the full match for FREE below at approximately the 1 hour and 10-minute mark.
