SummerSlam Preview: Finn Balor vs “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt

Summerslam

Finally, after months of episodes of Firefly Fun House that left people wanting more, Bray Wyatt returns to the wrestling ring at SummerSlam. This time, he brings his new alter-ego of “The Fiend”. Finn Balor is in for an absolute battle to say the least.

The Firely Fun House began all the way back on April 22nd as Bray wore a red sweater and asked if everyone missed him. A huge smile on his face, he seemed to be a new person. He wanted to earn the trust of the viewers that he is a new man and he wanted to show them a secret. The build-up to what Bray Wyatt really was trying to do was slowly revealed with the help of his Fun House pals.

Bray Wyatt has introduced new friend after new friend on the Firefly Fun House with the goal to get his fireflies to “let him in”. It started as so sweet and innocent but has brought this side out of Bray that we have never seen. He has murdered Rambling Rabbit in the Fun House and all the animal friends seem terrified. We know why which is due to “The Fiend”, one of the more intimidating competitors we have seen in wrestling in a very long time.

“The Fiend” first attacked Finn Balor on the July 15th Raw, where he had the lights slowly shut down and the music of Finn cut, leading to “The Fiend” appearing and planting Balor with Sister Abigail. Since then, Bray has taken out WWE Hall of Famers Mick Foley and Kurt Angle with the Mandible Claw. “The Fiend” looks all but unstoppable since appearing on WWE TV, and Finn Balor’s only hope would have been “The Demon”, which seems to be staying away for the time being.

Finn has had hard times recently to say the least, as he lost his Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules and hasn’t really had success since. Bray and friends have noted they’re all such big fans of Finn Balor, but it seems that will not stop “The Fiend” who does not feel the same notion towards Balor.

It is hard to see any result other than a decisive victory for Bray Wyatt, who looks to hurt Finn Balor rather than heal. This will be Bray Wyatt’s first match since a live event on December 30th, 2018. Almost eight months of a layoff between his last matches means he is fresh and ready to go. This will only be more obstacle for Balor, leaving him helpless in the battle with “The Fiend”.

Can Finn Balor prevent “The Fiend” and Bray Wyatt from taking over the WWE? Or is this finally the time to let him in?
