#AndNEW: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross Win WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

On tonight’s WWE Monday Night Raw live from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA, we saw the go-home show for WWE’s biggest event of the Summer, SummerSlam. While the show ramped up for the big event, there a special atmosphere in the air as gold would be up for grabs when The IIconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay) defended their titles against three other teams in Fire and Desire (Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville), Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross, and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane) in a 4 way tag team elimination match.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the match came when the champs quickly were the first team to get pinned. This would quickly ensure new champions tonight. The former tag champs were the second-ever WWE Women’s Tag Team champs when they defeated The Boss & Hug Connection, Sasha Banks and Bayley at Wrestlemania 35. The duel would hold the titles for 49 days before losing them to the Iiconics who would hold the titles for an impressive 4 months.

The Conclusion of the match saw a moment of bliss and when Alexa Bliss finished Kairi Sane with her signature move, Twisted Bliss, while Asuka was distracted outside when Nikki Cross trapped her with the ring apron covers. The big question now is, what’s next for the new tag team champions? Will they be defending their titles at SummerSlam?

The two have developed quite the relationship when Alexa initially tried using Nikki Cross to fight her battles. But throughout the weeks the two seem to have gotten close with Nikki defending Bliss every chance someone tries to get too close to her, such as the case with the ongoing storyline between Bliss and Bayley, with Cross having to face Bayley after being told that Alexa was simply using Nikki. One thing is for sure however, the tag team scene has certainly got some buzz behind it with Alexa Bliss essentially being the first triple crown champion withholding both the Smackdown Women’s Title and Raw Women’s Title and now becoming the Women’s Tag Champ, while Nikki now has her first taste of WWE gold.
