#AndNEW: The Briscoes Win The ROH Tag Team Championships

Briscoes IMPACT Tag

On Saturday at Ring of Honor‘s Manhattan Mayhem, The Briscoes won their 11th tag team championships, in what can easily be considered a tag team match of the year candidate when they defeated The Guerillas Of Destiny (GoD) in what was a wild match. Singapore canes, chairs, tables and ladders were used throughout the match along with high-risk maneuvers to do one thing. destroy one another.

Before the match, you could tell that the mood at the Hammerstein Ballroom was palpable. In an arena filled with an “Extreme” history from the days of ECW, to the more recent times with ROH assuming the Hammerstein Ballroom as a home base venue, you knew that when the match was announced, we would get a match fitting of the name of the show, Mayhem.

The Briscoes came out to great ovation from the New York crowd, while the champs at the time came out to the biggest ovation of the evening bar none. The crowd chanting “God” along with singing along to their new ring entrance theme, the champs came in extremely confident. But that didn’t stop the Briscoes from vowing to deliver a beating of a lifetime to the double champs.

From the beginning of the match, the Briscoes immediately grabbed Singapore canes, circled the ring and immediately signaling that the match would be a bloody brawl. And that’s just what happened. The Briscoes quickly got the upper hand at the beginning of the match by canning Toma Tonga and Tanga Loa, but the champs would turn the momentum into their favors and quickly got switched the tide of the match.

The match though quickly went back and forth, in and out of the ring. At one point, Tonga Loa was set up on a table when Mark Briscoe springboarded himself off a chair in the ring to the outside of the ring where Tanga Loa was set on the table and landing on Loa full impact. Loa would eventually get up after taking the hit and was able to bodyslam Mark Briscoe through another table that was used.

After the match, Mark Briscoe set a ladder on one corner of the ring and was able to lay Tama Tonga on a table on the other side of the ring. It was quite clear this was an all or nothing attempt from Mark Briscoe to do away with Tama Tonga and GoD as a whole. Tonga was able to get up and fight Mark at the top of the ladder. That was until Jay Briscoe made the save, took Tonga from underneath his legs, put Tanga over his shoulders, and set Mark up for a missile dropkick from the top of the ladder, hitting Tonga full impact and smashing Tama through the table to get the one, two, three for the win.

The Briscoes are on their way to Lowell, MA for Mass Hysteria which airs on Sunday, July 21st, 2019 when they face The Bouncers, a team at a combined weight of 750 pounds in the Beer City Bruiser and Brawler Milonas. With The Briscoes winning the titles tonight in the most brutal way possible, how will their bodies hold up against a team that has hundreds of pounds over them and maybe the fresher team in the match?
