IMPACT Wrestling & OVW Re-Establish Developmental Deal

In a major story for two well known companies, IMPACT Wrestling announced that they have re-entered into an agreement with Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) to serve as an official development and training territory for IMPACT Wrestling. The agreement comes off of a very successful IMPACT Wrestling One Night Only event which was co-promoted by OVW and IMPACT Wrestling. The first time the two companies worked together was back back in 2011 until 2014. Since then, Al Snow purchased the OVW. At one time, OVW served as a training territory for the WWE for several years, from 1999 through 2008.

IMPACT Wrestling made the announcement through a press release where Co-Executive Vice President of IMPACT Wrestling, Scott D’Amore had the following to say regarding the partnership: “We are excited to grow our outreach and partnership with promotions worldwide… it is great to work with Al Snow and the team at OVW, which has a long history of developing great talent.”

OVW CEO and Owner, Al Snow also commented on the agreement: “OVW is proud to be entrusted with the development of the true lifeblood of any professional wrestling promotion – the in-ring talent,”.

It’s worth noting that while the relationship between both promotions goes back to 2011, it pales in comparison between the relationship of Al Snow and Scott D’Amore, as their relationship began in the early 90’s when Al Snow competed for Scott D’Amore’s Border City Wrestling (he was in the New Fabulous Kangaroos with Denny Kass, and won the BCW Tag Team titles in 1994), where he would later become a trainer at D’Amore’s Can-Am Wrestling school in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

We at Last Word On Pro Wrestling reached out to Mr. Scott D’Amore for further comment and Scott told us that OVW the only official developmental territory for IMPACT Wrestling. While IMPACT Wrestling does work with other indie promotions to co-promote the “One Night Only” Twitch.tv specials, those companies are not under any working agreement to develop or train IMPACT Wrestling prospects.
