Indie Star Kylie Rae Reportedly Headed to AEW

DISCLAIMER: Yesterday, we erroneous reported that Scottish indie star Kay Lee Ray may suddenly be heading to All Elite Wrestling after seemingly heading to NXT UK. The error was due to a case of phonetic misinterpretation of hearing Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio saying Kylie Rae, but hearing it as Kay Lee Ray. After reading other reports, we have clarified it is US indie star Kylie Rae, not the UK’s Kay Lee Ray, that is reportedly signing with All Elite Wrestling.

It has been reported that Chicago’s Kylie Rae, one of the top young women’s wrestlers in the US indie circuit, is close to finalizing a deal with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) to join their women’s division. Only wrestling since 2016, Kylie Rae is widely regarded as one of the breakout stars of 2018 who was on a lot of people’s radars for 2019.

Kylie Rae was trained by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and began her career with his Reality of Wrestling (ROW) promotion in Houston, Texas. She immediately became a focal point of the Women’s division, where she’s a 3x ROW Diamonds Division Champion. She also worked for Tommy Dreamer‘s House of Hardcore in her rookie year.

By 2017, she began to work other Texas area promotions, such as Inspire Pro Wrestling, as well as diving into her hometown scene in Chicago, working for Freelance Wrestling, All American Wrestling (AAW), RISE Wrestling, SHIMMER and Zelo Pro Wrestling, where she’s the current reigning and 2x Zelo Pro Women’s Champion.

Last year was a huge breakout year for Kylie Rae, as she did her first tour of Japan with Stardom in July (along with AEW’s Britt Baker), as well as making her debut with Beyond Wrestling, NOVA Pro and many others, and appearing in tag team action on the IMPACT Wrestling and RISE joint event, RISE of the Knockouts. She was also invited to a WWE Tryout last February, so she was even on their radar as a future prospect.

It was always expected that 2019 would be a massive year for the Chicago grappler, but the AEW news is a huge opportunity for Kylie Rae to show the world what she’s truly capable of.
