Is Aja Kong Going All Elite?

Aja Kong

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is looking to bring in several joshi stars from Japan. While some companies like Stardom (who have a working agreement with Ring of Honor) and Sendai Girls (who may be linked to WWE due to their working relationship with owner Meiko Satomura) may be off limits, there is still a plethora of talent available to work the US with AEW. According to the Newsletter, one of those names just may be joshi legend Aja Kong.

The 48-year old Aja Kong is one of the most important joshi legends in the history of Japanese women’s wrestling and one of joshi’s most influential monster wrestlers. Trained by All Japan Women’s Pro Wrestling (AJW) legend Jaguar Yokota in 1986, she made her AJW debut in 1989. She worked with AJW through until 1997, when she joined GAEA. She would eventually make OZ Academy her primary promotion in 2007, while still working freelance with such promotions as Sendai Girls, ZERO1, Diana, DDT Pro and more. She also worked internationally with the likes of SHIMMER, Pro Wrestling EVE, RISE, and CHIKARA.

Aja Kong had some epic feuds, with the likes of Manami Toyota, Meiko Satomura, and Bull Nakano, and is regarded as one of the toughest women to step inside the ring in Japan.
