Former UFC Champion Frank Mir to Make Pro Wrestling Debut

Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) today announced via Twitter that on the fourth of April, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir will make his in-ring professional wrestling debut.  The match will take place as part of Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport event in Jersey City, New Jersey in the week leading up to WrestleMania.  There is no word yet on who his opponent will be.

Mir is a mixed martial arts fighter who competes for Bellator Mixed Martial Arts and previously competed for almost sixteen years in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.  He is a former two-time heavyweight champion and holds several records in the division including, most wins, most fights, and most finishes.  Some of his more notable wins include victories over Tim Sylvia, Mirko Cro Crop, and a 90-second submission victory over current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Traditionally a Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu and Kenpo fighter, the 39 year old made the switch to professional wrestling training only recently after a few years of ruling it out in favor of his MMA career.
