Nia Jax & Tamina Form New Divas of Doom as Women’s Tag Title Rumors Heat Up

On Monday night’s edition of Raw, Nia Jax defeated Ember Moon, only to have Tamina Snuka storm the ring and attack Ember Moon mercilessly while a shocked Nia Jax looked on. But just when it seemed that Nia was about to help Ember, she instead joined Tamina in continuing the attack.

Later that night, Kayla Braxton talked to the two, with Nia asking why they thought she was going to fight with “her family”. Nia Jax, a blood relation of The Rock, is also part of the extended Blood Family of the Anoi’a clan, of which Tamina Snuka is a part of. While everyone is familiar with her famous father, WWE Hall of Famer “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka, her mother is Sharon Georgi, whose father was a Samoan Chief that was also blood brothers with Reverend Amituana’i Anoa’i, the father of Afa & Sika, like High Chief Peter Maivia was.

In an interesting moment, Tamina states it’s “all about timing”, which Nia Jax re-iterates several times. What “timing” would they be talking about? It’s quite possible it’s in relation to the near year-long rumors that the WWE was planning on unveiling WWE Women’s Tag Team titles at some point in 2018. In fact, at recent live events, WWE has been handing out signs demanding as much.

While it seems far-fetched, the WWE has been slowly assembling women’s units for the past few months, beginning with the debut of NXT’s The Iiconics (Peyton Royce & Billie Kay), the fracturing then unifying stronger Bayley and Sasha Banks, the addition of Alicia Fox to Mickie James as Alexa Bliss‘ minions, and the friending of Asuka and Naomi on Smackdown Live. With units forming on both brands, it’s very possible the women’s tag team titles would float between both brands. The recent return of Trish Stratus and Lita to help jumpstart the division – even if it’s for a limited return – would do wonders. With so many units available to add, like The Bella Twins, Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville or Riott Squad‘s Sarah Logan & Liv Morgan, it would help to keep the other women busy in storylines, while the main event of the division is pre-occupied.
