#AndNEW: Tyson Dux & Brent Banks Win Smash Wrestling Tag Team Titles

Dux and Banks with Smash Wrestling tag titles

At tonight’s Smash Wrestling #DTK: Don’t Trust Karma event in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, The Pillars – a tag team featuring long time Smash Wrestling regulars and Canadian indie stars Tyson Dux and Brent Banks – defeated The Well Oiled Machines (Pepper Parks & “Psycho” Mike Rollins) to become the new Smash Tag Team Champions.

The Well Oiled Machines were the inaugural Smash Tag Team Champions, winning the new belts at Any Given Sunday 6 this past January against Tabernak de Team (Mathieu St-Jacques & Thomas Dubois). Since then, they’ve fought off Kill/Screen (Scotty O’Shea & Kevin Blackwood) and former PWG World Tag Team Champions Super Smash Bros. (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) twice. But tonight, the newly formed tag team The Pillars proved too much and their 253 day reign as Smash Tag Team Champions has come to an end.

Brent Banks has been one of Ontario’s – and Canada’s – best kept wrestling secrets, an absolute full package of charisma, swagger and athleticism. A 13-year veteran of the Canadian indies, Toronto’s Banks is a regular with the likes of Smash, Border City Wrestling (BCW), Capital City Championship Combat (C4), Superkick’D and more. He’s even appeared on IMPACT Wrestling Twitch and One Night Only specials. Last year, he represented Canada in the WCPW (now Defiant) Pro Wrestling World Cup, facing Mike “Speedball” Bailey in the first round.

His partner Tyson Dux is a Canadian indie icon. A near 20-year pro, he’s wrestled for WWE, IMPACT Wrestling, and Ring of Honor, as well as indies like All American Wrestling (AAW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) and more, particularly Canadian indies like Smash, BCW, and Superkick’D. He also wrestled in the WCPW World Cup – losing to Kyle O’Reilly in the first round – and represented Canada in the 2016 WWE Cruiserweight Classic. He recently spent a week as a guest coach at the WWE Performance Center and is the longest reigning Smash Champion at 435 days.
