Mia Yim To Make NXT Live Debut This Saturday

Two time Mae Young Classic competitor Mia Yim finally makes her debut on the NXT Live Event circuit this weekend, when she joins the crew at this Saturday’s NXT Live Event in Fort Pierce, Florida, as announced by NXT’s official Twitter today.

The former IMPACT Knockouts Champion (then known as Jade) debuted with the WWE last year in the first Mae Young Classic, defeating Riott Squad‘s Sarah Logan in the first round, before being knocked out of the tournament in the second round by eventual finalist Shayna Baszler.

In this year’s edition, she faced a tough test in another former Knockouts Champion, Allysin Kay (known as Sienna in IMPACT Wrestling), pulling off the win to advance to the second round, where she’ll be facing former WWE Divas Champion Kaitlyn.

The debut comes a week after Mia Yim debuted at the WWE Performance Center after reportedly signing with the WWE, which would make Yim the first of the non-contracted participants of this year’s Mae Young Classic to sign with the WWE. Last year’s Mae Young Classic saw the WWE sign Candice LeRae, Kavita Devi and Toni Storm (the latter signed an NXT UK deal this year) following the tournament (another signee, Jazzy Gabert, had her offer rescinded after she failed the final medical).

A 9-year veteran of the indie circuit, Mia Yim is also a former Shine Champion and Shine Tag Team Champion, and has competed for such women’s promotions as SHIMMER, Shine, Women’s Superstars Uncensored (WSU), and Queens of Combat (QOC), as well as other indie promotions like Beyond Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), Smash Wrestling and many others. Yim is also a veteran of the UK scene, having competed for the likes of Southside Wrestling Entertainment (SWE) and Preston City Wrestling (PCW) for the past four years.
