Adam Cole of the Undisputed Era won the NXT North American Championship in a Six-Way Ladder match at NXT Takeover: New Orleans and many fans wondered what was in store for the new championship in WWE. Considering the WWE United Kingdom Championship is defended in the United Kingdom in other promotions like PROGRESS Wrestling by “The Bruiserweight” Pete Dunne, it only makes sense the new NXT North American Championship is defended across America, not just in WWE but in independent promotions as well. EVOLVE Wrestling made the announcement that an opponent would be selected yesterday and current Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) World Champion WALTER gets the title match with Adam Cole at EVOLVE 107 on June 24 in Melrose, MA.

The NXT North American Championship stock will only go up with an experienced champion in Adam Cole to defend across America and he always carries himself like a champion. EVOLVE Wrestling prides itself on featuring a roster full of the best young sensations in the Country that owner Gabe Sapolsky can find. The hardcore Darby Allin and newcomer Zachary Wentz could have been easy choices for this match, but the 310-pound WALTER being involved guarantees a brawl that the world won’t want to miss. This could be a sign the relationship between EVOLVE Wrestling and WWE is growing and it won’t be long before EVOLVE comes to the WWE Network via On Demand.

Adam Cole better bulk up for the chops he is about to receive from WALTER. It would be a massive achievement if Cole pinned the heavyweight Austrian that made his name in Germany in wXw, but who has now become wildly popular in the United States. WALTER’s style is not unlike Samoa Joe’s form of attack: pummel the opponent until they are worn down for the Choke. Walter is the head coach at wXw and he was heavily rumoured to be signed to WWE earlier this year, but he silenced those rumours. Adam Cole may not have his Undisputed Era friends Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong to help him get out of this Championship match this time.
