#AndNEW: Aussie Open Win Defiant Tag Team Championship

At tonight’s Defiant Wrestling No Regrets show, Aussie Open became two-time Defiant Tag Team Champions after defeating Jimmy Havoc and Mark Haskins. It marks the duo’s fourth set of Tag Team Championships (having won the Tag Titles in ATTACK! Pro Wrestling, HOPE Wrestling and Defiant Wrestling). This makes them the very first two-time Tag Team Champions in Defiant Wrestling history.

Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher initially came in to Defiant as part of the IPW invasion but after Team IPW lost that five on five match at Chain Reaction, the Australian standouts deserted Austin Aries. This appeared to do great things for them, as they defeated The South-Coast Connection to become the #1 contenders. Davis and Fletcher began their first reign on the go-home show to Lights Out after Jimmy Havoc turned on Primate and laid down to give them the easy win. After losing the titles at The Road to No Regrets to Havoc and Mark Haskins, Aussie Open demanded a rematch and regained the gold with a backslide rollup from Fletcher to Havoc.

Since arriving to the UK, Aussie Open have become well liked by fans all over the place. They recently competed in New Orleans during WrestleMania 34 weekend, where they faced one of their toughest tests to date as they went against New Japan Pro Wrestling‘s Hiroshi Tanahashi and Juice Robinson in a losing effort.

With Aussie Open’s win, they’ve ended Jimmy Havoc and Mark Haskins’ reign at 33 days, the shortest reign of the title’s history. With Jimmy Havoc still holding the Defiant Hardcore Championship, perhaps he’ll go back to defending that for the time being.
