Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho Shouldn’t Feud

It looks like we might see a brief Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho feud on Monday Night Raw. Here's why that's not a good thing.

Judging by the end of the Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins match at Hell in a Cell, it looks like their feud is over. While it’s true that Chris Jericho interfered, there’s no DQ in the cell, so technically, Owens won clean. The match itself was fantastic, featuring an awesome table spot, but what happened after the match was troublesome. After Owens retained the title, Y2J came back to the ring and hit The Architect with a Codebreaker. Unfortunately, it looks like Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho are about to have their own separate feud.

Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho Shouldn’t Feud

First things first, Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho are both extremely talented. When reviewing all of the Monday Night Raw’s in October, they were number’s one and three. Both men are perfectly capable of putting on a fantastic match. Unfortunately, we know this because we’ve seen it.

The biggest reason that Seth Rollins and Chris Jericho shouldn’t feud is that we’ve seen it a million times over the last month. In and out of the ring, these two have had six encounters over the last month. They’ve had three matches and Jercho has taken the Pedigree four times. Rollins was feuding with Kevin Owens, but at points, he seemed to have bigger problems with Jericho.

The only person that Seth Rollins has wrestled over the last month and a half that wasn’t Kevin Owens or Chris Jericho was Rusev, and that was one time. Maybe it’s because the roster isn’t big enough or they haven’t created enough main event stars, but this feud is beyond stale. Kevin Owens needs to move on to a new challenger, and Seth Rollins needs to get involved in some kind of program with Triple H.

Rollins going after Jericho for costing him the title makes sense, but we just don’t want to see it. At least on SmackDown Live!, they involved James Ellsworth with their stale title feud. On Raw, it just looks like we’re going to see Jericho put Rollins on “The List” until he leaves for his European tour with Fozzy. Which brings up the next point.

A Wasted Battle

The reality is that Chris Jericho is leaving the WWE soon. His band, Fozzy is going back on tour in two weeks, and unless he’s magical (which is entirely possible), he won’t be able to be in both places at once. While Jericho vs. Rollins could be good, Jericho vs. Owens would be so much better. Fozzy will be overseas until early December, and by then, the tension will have cooled off.

Jericho could still return to face Owens for the Universal Championship at RoadBlock, but that’s so far away. As great as these workers are, they might not be able to microwave this feud. I do have an idea though. There’s a way they can get rid of Jericho on TV for a while, without losing the story-line.

Over the next two weeks, have something go wrong with Jericho and Owens. Maybe Owens is facing off against the new number one contender… which will probably be Roman Reigns, and Jericho costs him the match. Have Owens turn on Jericho, power-bombing him onto the apron. In the past, this move has injured wrestlers, taking them off TV for weeks at a time. Owens turns on Jericho, injuring him, and then Y2J returns in early December as a babyface. However, this makes far too much sense, so it’s unlikely WWE will actually do it.
