One of the best cornerbacks in football might be on the move. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jalen Ramsey requested a trade following Jacksonville’s Week 2 loss. Everyone would love to have a player as good as Ramsey, so there should be no shortage of suitors. However, let’s take a look at the teams who could best utilize his talents.

Top Jalen Ramsey Team Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs have the best young quarterback in the league in Patrick Mahomes, an elite head coach in Andy Reid, and a ridiculous assortment of offensive weapons. However, Kansas City has one of the NFL’s worst defenses and desperately needs an upgrade in the secondary. Tyrann Mathieu cannot do it alone, and the current trio of Charvarius Ward, Bashaud Breeland, and Kendall Fuller leave a lot to be desired.
Acquiring Ramsey immediately fixes Kansas City’s biggest weakness. The Chiefs already addressed their front seven issues by acquiring Frank Clark and could fix their secondary by adding Ramsey to the mix. Patrick Mahomes is still on his rookie contract, and the reigning MVP is going to make a ridiculous amount of money when his next extension hits. The Chiefs need to go all-in before Mahomes’ inevitable payday.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the NFL’s most complete rosters, but they need an upgrade at cornerback. Ronald Darby is better utilized as a depth option, and the five-year veteran is seeing too much time on the field. By acquiring Ramsey, the Eagles can solidify their secondary and create one of the more well-rounded defenses in the league.
Cornerback wasn’t an issue entering the season. Jim Schwartz’ plan was to acquire a group of solid, yet unspectacular cornerbacks who could do their job while the front four pressured the quarterback. However, Malik Jackson is done for the year and Timmy Jernigan suffered an injury in Week 2. With the interior pass rushers dropping like flies, the Eagles need to get better in the secondary.
Indianapolis Colts
Even without Andrew Luck, the Indianapolis Colts remain one of the NFL’s most complete rosters. At 1-1, the Colts are serious contenders for the division crown thanks to their poor division. Adding Ramsey to the mix only improves their odds while shoring up the weakest part of the defense.
The Colts probably won’t be genuine Super Bowl threats with Jacoby Brissett, so Indianapolis would need to sign Ramsey to a long-term deal for this trade to make sense. Fortunately, the Colts have the most cap space in the league ($42.7 million) and can easily afford to hand out an extension.
Everyone Else
These three teams make the most sense, but literally every roster in the NFL would look better with Ramsey. In today’s pass-happy NFL, there’s no such thing as too many good cornerbacks. Don’t be surprised if any of the other 31 franchises make a move for the talented cornerback.
