Stefon Diggs Rumors: Deleted Post Ignites Bills Return Buzz

The latest Stefon Diggs rumors are buzzing across the league after new Bills CB C.J. Gardner-Johnson posted the Bills should acquire the veteran hours after the Patriots acquired AJ Brown this week. Gardner-Johnson joined the Bills this offseason and is looking for the team to upgrade their offense, posting the receiver on X with a caption that states, “I mean, why not.” The post was deleted, but it has garnered enough attention for rumors to pick back up. Originally selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the former Maryland product is still looking for work after dealing with a case, but all charges were dropped last month.

Earlier this offseason, the Bills traded for DJ Moore to overhaul its pass-game for QB Josh Allen, but there’s still room for improvement. After teasing, they’d move on without Keon Coleman; the team did not sign a single WR free agent this offseason. The Bills could bring back Diggs for one more run, but they have somewhat of a logjam in their receiver unit.

Stefon Diggs Rumors: Deleted Post Ignites Bills Return Buzz

However, Bills WR Joshua Palmer has been rumored as a cut candidate before the 2026 season. If the team decides to release along with trading Coleman for a decent return, it would make room for the veteran. Ever since Diggs left Buffalo to join the Texans for a single season, the Bills have struggled to find a long-term superstar weapon. While they had Khalil Shakir having his moments on the field, the offense has been rotating the majority of their receivers, and no one has exceeded more than 1,000 receiving yards.

After adding Moore, the hope is that Buffalo could change that. However, they’re going to need help when you have a team like the Patriots making drastic moves to improve their pass game. The former Patriot went on Instagram to tease a potential with Allen, but he left on the wrong foot with the Bills in 2024. With that, the WR should keep his options open for other teams as well.

However, there’s still somewhat of a chance that he joins the Bills since he’s proven that he’s still playing at a high level. Last season, the Pro Bowler hauled in 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns, leading the receiver room in New England. If it’s not Buffalo, here are three other fits.

Other Possible Suitors

Los Angeles Rams

After acquiring Myles Garrett, the Los Angeles Rams have proven to be serious Super Bowl contenders this season. However, there is still work to do offensively. The Rams have ignored exploring the WR free agent market and were close to trading Davante Adams for AJ Brown. The team is still in a good spot defensively, but Puka Nacua and Adams are going to need help in the aerial attack.

Los Angeles won’t be bringing in a receiver on a long-term contract, but Stefon Diggs’ potential presents the Rams with the opportunity to build one of the most dangerous rosters overall in the last decade.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Stefon Diggs rumors have also been buzzing surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. Rashee Rice hasn’t been able to stay out of trouble, and while he’s expected to be at training camp, he’s serving a current jail sentence. Rice is entering the final year of his deal, and the Chiefs are wary of extending him. The Chiefs can’t afford offseason issues anymore, but adding Diggs to the team might be their last resort.

Between Tyquan Thornton, Xavier Worthy and an unproven Jalen Royals, the Chiefs have one of the most inexperienced WR groups. The free agent won’t be the permanent solution, but with QB Patrick Mahomes returning from a season-ending injury, he needs a high-stakes veteran WR to increase their odds for a postseason appearance.

Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers adding Diggs would be a no-brainer for this offense. As it looks right now, Justin Herbert is still a top 5 QB, but he has one of the worst WR groups. Ladd McConkey is their best pass-catcher, but Quentin Johnston can be inconsistent at times despite his improvement. The team drafted Brenen Thompson, but that won’t help them reach past the wild-card.

The free agent won’t be the long-term fix, but it’d help the Chargers advance further.
