Xavier Worthy Dynasty Outlook

Have you ever seen a rocket ship mixed with a dragonfly? Go watch some Xavier Worthy clips, he blends an enticing route refinement with high-end athleticism that should excite fans. Where should we take him in rookie drafts, and what is Xavier Worthy’s dynasty outlook long term?

Xavier Worthy Dynasty Outlook

The History

Worthy was a four-star prospect and the #13 wide receiver in his recruiting class. He was originally committed to Michigan before flipping to the University of Texas where he would spend all three years in college. Despite his slight frame (listed at 6’1″, 172) he led the 2021 Longhorns in receiving yards, receptions, and receiving touchdowns. His sophomore season left a lot to be desired after an All-American Freshman campaign. He still led the team in the major receiving categories, but his counting totals decreased across the board. 2023 was a bounce-back season for Worthy as he posted career highs in yards and receptions before declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft. His draft profile highlights his exact strengths and weaknesses, or check out the quick film study on YouTube.

The Situation

Worthy is currently in the third tier of wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft, and for dynasty fantasy football he’s in the similar range. On our early 2024 wide receiver rankings he came in at number eight, but that has less to do with a lack of talent on his part as much as how insanely talented the class is. He would have been in the WR2-3 range in last year’s class with his early declare status, insane speed and ability to manipulate defenders at all parts of his route tree.

Instead, he’s likely going to find himself in a great situation for fantasy football. He’ll go in the late first round (maybe like in this mock draft) to a team that has an exceptional quarterback, or he’ll go high in the second round to a team void of pass catching options. Best case scenario he’s the number one option in an ascending offense. The worst case scenario he’s the two with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen or Kyler Murray. There’s worse situations to be in.

What to do With Xavier Worthy in Dynasty Fantasy Football

Worthy is currently the WR50 on KeepTradeCut. If you’re one of the hard core folks who are already doing dynasty rookie drafts, he’s a value in the mid second round. He’s going to be a big riser for most people after the combine, and truth be told after diving into his tape he’s closer to number four in this class than he is to ten right now. If you have middling wide receivers like Romeo Doubs, Calvin Ridley, or Jahan Dotson and can flip them for second round picks before the combine, do it. With how loaded this WR and QB class is, valuable contributors are going to fall to the second round. Bottom line, Worthy is a value in dynasty right now.
