3 Running Backs the Patriots Could Sign After Latest Injury

3. Cordarrelle Patterson

Cordarrelle Patterson won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots in 2018, and he could return to help the team get their playoff win since that magical season. While all of the players from the 2018 squad are gone, offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels remains. While he made the biggest headlines in Minnesota and Atlanta, McDaniels was the first coach to use the then-wide receiver as a running back. During his lone year with the Patriots, Patterson recorded 228 rushing yards and one touchdown on 42 attempts.

Now 34 years old, Patterson is not the dangerous open field weapon he used to be. However, he’s familiar with McDaniels’ complicated offense and could provide the veteran presence this team needs. Seeing as he shouldn’t cost more than the veteran minimum, it’s worth bringing him in and seeing if he has anything left in his tank.
