Bobby Brink Contract Details Finalize a Day Before Free Agency
Brink signs a one-year deal, worth $2.75 million. Moreover, Brink and the Wild come together a day before free agency begins tomorrow as the right winger had been set to become a unrestricted free agent tomorrow. He, and likely general manager Bill Guerin, too, could have expected potentially a bigger payday hitting the open market. With his age and the unknown ceiling in his scoring game, it seems the bridge deal is a sign that Brink is betting on himself to really break out. And Wild ownership are happy that they get to save some money to build their team with, something that might be important come the trade deadline if they are looking to load up for the 2027 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Brink is a 24 year old, Minnetonka, Minnesota product. At 5’8″, there will remain doubters out there of his optimal depth-chart rank. Furthermore, over the course of his career he has been a fairly consistent goal getter. In 214 career games, he has 38 goals and 60 assists for 98 points. However, that has been in only 15:10 of average ice time.
His career shooting percentage of 12.3 % does appear to be trending upwards. Something might just be adding up here.
If he can find the right opportunity on the power play, and having a playmaker at centre for his 5v5 line combination, it could be a formula for 25+ goals for Brink. In any case, Wild fans can’t wait to see what the 2026-27 season has in store for them.
