NHL Rumours: St. Louis Blues Asking Price for Jordan Kyrou

It’s time for some more NHL rumours. We’re nearing the Conference Finals in the East and the West. However, we’ve got plenty to talk about on the hot stove front. Teams are trying to figure out how they can be one of the few clubs slugging it out for a Stanley Cup. However, general managers might have to hit the reset button in order to get going on the right track. We could see some trades with the draft coming in just over a month.

One team that could see some changes is the St Louis Blues. This edition of NHL rumours deals with a possible asking price for Jordan Kyrou via trade.

All NHL rumours come from the original source and are subject to change.

St Louis Blues Set High Asking Price for Jordan Kyrou

Rumour: Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic touched on the latest with highly touted forward Jordan Kyrou. Rutherford stated that the Blues will try to move the veteran player. However, the asking price to procure Kyrou from St Louis.

Analysis: Both Kyrou and Robert Thomas were the subject of trade rumours at the deadline. However, outgoing general manager Doug Armstrong decided to hold on to both talented players. The Blues did make a late push for a Stanley Cup Playoff spot, but nothing came of it.

However, there will be a new person in charge of the Blues come July 1. Former St Louis great Alexander Steen will take over as general manager and one of his first big tests will be deciding the fate of both Kyrou and Thomas. This edition of NHL rumours will deal with situation surrounding Kyrou.

Rutherford said that the Blues will try to make a deal in the offseason. However, one massive stumbling block could be the length and term left on the 28-year-old forward’s contract. The Toronto native makes $8.125 million and the deal lasts until the end of the 2030-31 season.

This is the exact same deal as what Thomas is getting, so we could see a similar deal on order to get Thomas. However, teams are going to have to dig deep in order to get Kyrou.

What It Means

Rutherford adds that it’s going to be hard for teams to match what the Blues are asking for. The Blues beat writer said that St Louis wants an established player, a draft pick, and a prospect. There is a demand for Kyrou, but Blues’ management is going to make it hard for a team to get either Kyrou or Thomas.

It was a disappointing season for Kyrou in 2025-26. The winger saw his goal total get cut in half from the 2024-25 season as he only got 18 goals last campaign. Kyrou also missed 10 games to various ailments after playing in all 82 games in the previous two seasons.

Despite these struggles, Kyrou could still be a useful player to a contending team. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said in March that the Ottawa Senators showed some interest Thomas, who centered a line with Dylan Cozens at the IIHF World Championships. However, Adam Proteau of The Hockey News thinks the Senators should turn their attention to Kyrou.

Ottawa seems pretty solid down the middle, but thin on the wings. Kyrou could help in the top six. Tim Stutzle, Cozens and Shane Pinto make a strong group down the middle, so Senators general manager Steve Staios may want to address other needs on the roster. The Senators do seem to have some room under the salary cap and adding someone like Kyrou would bolster a lineup looking to get out of the first round of the playoffs.
