Oxford United Win Against Watford
Firm But Fair
This was a physical encounter between both sides but Oxford were firm but fair in their challenges.
The U’s looked strong both on and off the ball and it’s certainly a positive attitude to take into the final four games.
Watford may feel aggrieved with some of the decisions but Oxford rode the line to perfection.
Konak in Midfield
It was a man-of-the-match display from on-loan Brentford midfielder, Yunus Konak.
The young Turk epitomised that physical battle, winning balls and helping Oxford drive up the pitch on the counter while also providing a pivotal screen in front of the back four.
His performances have come on leaps and bounds and has certainly become a key part of Matt Bloomfield’s side in recent weeks.
Clean Sheet
Oxford have kept clean sheets on a more consistent basis under Bloomfield but this was a first in six since a 1-0 win over Blackburn.
The backline put their bodies on the line when they needed to but, for the most part, were rarely tested by a lacklustre Watford side.
But again, it’s an important trait to take into the final four games.
