The U’s were on a four-game unbeaten run before defeat against Southampton ahead of the international break. Now, they’ve suffered just one loss in six.

Pompey suffered a heavy 6-1 loss at QPR before the interval and had lost five from their previous six games, with the other result a 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers, Blackburn.

The U’s have some new injury concerns for this game, with Tyler Goodrham and Brian De Keersmaecker still sidelined. Jack Currie also missed the game against Hull with an ankle knock so he could be a doubt for the trip, while Aidomo Emakhu missed a week of training with a groin issue.

Pompey could have up to eight players missing due to injury, including Ajibola Alese, Josh Knight and Ebou Adams. Former U’s winger Josh Murphy could return, while Andre Dozzell and Keshi Anderson did make their comeback against Norwich.

Portsmouth won the reverse fixture at Grenoble Road on the opening day of the campaign and are unbeaten in their last eight meetings, winning three of the last four. The last time they faced off at Fratton Park ended in a 1-1 draw but the U’s have failed to win on the road in their last nine attempts.

Matt Bloomfield has faced Portsmouth on five occasions with two wins, one draw and two defeats. However, he is yet to win in either of his trips to Fratton Park.
