Daniel Farke Praises ‘Brilliant Character’: Teases Future Involvement for Leeds

Leeds United have endured a difficult season, and currently lie 16th in the Premier League, with just one win in their last five league games. Survival is undoubtedly the number one priority for Daniel Farke’s team, but the Leeds United boss has recently praised Alfie Cresswell, teasing a bright future and first-team involvement for the promising youngster.

Cresswell Set for a Bright Future

“You can see him progress even on a weekly basis and this is what I like a lot, so lots of praise for him.

“It doesn’t mean he will celebrate his debut against Arsenal, but they [young players] all have chances right now to be involved in matchday squads and perhaps also to get a few minutes.”

“First of all, congratulations to Alfie. He’s not a regular member of our training group anyhow, but here and there we have him with us. Brilliant lad, brilliant character, also flexible in many defensive positions – he’s played as a center-back and central midfield, as a full back, also quite important for our Under 21s. We got the feeling there’s more to come. This is why we extended this contract. Doesn’t mean that from tomorrow on, he’s a proper member of the first team, but it’s also important that we believe also in our young talents, and want to develop them.”

A versatile youngster, Cresswell has impressed in defence, but has also shone in midfield for the Under-21s, showing calmness on the ball and impressive passing abilities. If Cresswell keeps on this trajectory, Leeds will have a new leader.
