Matchday 7 of the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League will conclude on Wednesday with matches featuring the high-flying Bayern Munich, and Chelsea under new management. Newcastle vs PSV has upset potential as well. We predict every match on matchday 7 including Barcelona’s clash with Slavia Prague.
PSV at Newcastle
PSV are at risk of elimination from the Champions League, while Newcastle seek a top 8 finish, despite sitting 8th in the Premier League. PSV are likely to be Dutch champions once more, holding a large league in the domestic table despite a less than impressive UCL campaign. With PSV in such great form they won’t lack belief here. Newcastle will be missing a number of regular starters including players like Jacob Murphy and Fabian Schar. PSV are missing the likes of Ricardo Pepi and Sergino Dest. Newcastle at home are a solid side, but a PSV upset feels in the cards. Prediction: PSV 3-1
Union SG at Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich trailed at the half on the weekend against RB Leipzig and ran away massive winners. It was another magnificent performance for the best team in the world at present. Nearly assured of a Bundesliga crown, and dreaming of more, they host Belgium’s top side Union SG. Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern can attack and look unbothered, Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Luis Diaz are world football’s best trident at the moment. USG have outside hopes of advancing into a later phase of the Champions League but they would need a point here to aid their chances. USG are playing well, but Bayern are a buzzsaw, with Jamal Musiala set to return. Alphonso Davies the Canadian international is also set to return, while Konrad Laimer is suspended. Promise David leads USG. Prediction: Bayern Munich 4-0
Pafos at Chelsea
Under a new manager and 6th in the Premier League, Chelsea host a Pafos side that currently sit in the elimination zone, while they themselves have a path to a top 8 finish. Players like Estevao and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could be out for Chelsea, but against Pafos, who will be missing the famous David Luiz, even a B side Chelsea at home would be favored. Pafos are likely to struggle defensively and players like Liam Delap will get their chances to score. Prediction: Chelsea 5-0
Athletic Bilbao at Atalanta
Atalanta are a stunning 5th on the table and have already advanced, they could straight into the last 16 if they finish their last two games strong. By contrast, they are 7th on the Serie A table and are not assured of returning to this Champions League competition next season. Bilbao, with just 5 points from six games and 10th in La Liga have endured a difficult season that could see them going without European football for the next year. Bilbao defend poorly and will be missing the services of Aymeric Laporte. Atalanta will see Ademola Lookman return from AFCON and have a strong enough side to secure a win at home. Prediction: Atalanta 3-1
Benfica at Juventus
Juventus sit 5th in Serie A and mid-table in the Champions League. Benfica are just inside the elimination zone, and have struggled by their lofty standards in Portugal as well. These are two famous clubs with Juventus trying to bounce back from a loss at the weekend. Dusan Vlahovic is a key out for Juventus, but Jonathan David is perfectly capable in his place, Dodi Lukebakio is out for Benfica, along with midfielder Richard Rios. Benfica can play crafty football, but coming away with points would still be a surprise. Prediction: Juventus 1-0
