International Call-Ups

On Tuesday, Mark Harris was called up to the Wales squad for their upcoming fixtures.

The Red Dragons face England in a friendly at Wembley before a World Cup qualifier against Belgium.

Luke Harris was also selected for the Wales U21 side.

On Thursday, Ciaron Brown and Brodie Spencer were called up for Northern Ireland’s upcoming fixtures.

The World Cup qualifiers are at home against Slovakia before welcoming Germany to Windsor Park.

Brown hasn’t played since April with a knee injury but did feature for the U21s also this week.

Also selected for international duty are injured duo Filip Krastev and Ole Romeny. Krastev, who was replaced at QPR, could face Türkiye and Spain in vital World Cup qualifiers while Romeny, who hasn’t played for Oxford this season, sees his Indonesia side face World Cup qualifiers against Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the first play-offs.

Finally, Greg Leigh was once again selected for Jamaica. The Reggae Boyz, who sit top of their World Cup qualifying group, they take on Curacao and Bermuda.

Vital Minutes for Brown

Ciaron Brown made his return from injury in Oxford United’s U21 3-0 victory over Stockport.

The defender played the first 45 minutes of the game in which the U’s led 2-0 thanks to goals from Gatlin O’Donkor and Calum Doyle, with Richard McIntyre adding a third in the second half.

Draw at QPR

Oxford picked up their first clean sheet of the season on Wednesday night as the U’s drew 0-0 at QPR.

It was a scrappy game of football in West London but it was a valuable point on the road for Gary Rowett’s side.

Defeat at Watford

However, Oxford were unable to capitalise on that point with a damaging defeat at Watford on Saturday.

The U’s took the lead inside three minutes when Brian De Keersmaecker saw his corner turned in by a Hornets player, but the hosts hit back with a goal on the stroke of half time before adding a second two minutes later.

It was a poor display from Oxford, who drop back into the bottom three ahead of the international break.
