In midfield, it was the mercurial Martin Odegaard, Martin Zubimendi, and Mikel Merino. Out wide, it was Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, supporting Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal Recent Form and Tactics

Despite the early-season defeat to Liverpool, it’s been a promising start for Arsenal, who have won two out of two in the Champions League and are lying second, just two points behind league leaders Liverpool.

Zubimendi and Eze have impressed since joining the Gunners, and are already key parts of Arteta’s squad.

Even at this early part of the season, the team appears to be coming together, with key players such as Odegaard returning from injury. Once Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz return from injury, the competition for places will be fierce at the Emirates.

Injuries and Absentees to Consider

In the pre-match press conference, Arteta spoke about the recent minutes for Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly as opposed to any existing injury concerns:

“I work with what the boys can provide in the context that the team is playing in at the moment. Ethan has played two games in the Premier League very early because of an injury to Martin as well. He played in other competitions and he will play more.

“With Myles, it’s the same, but sometimes it’s form, sometimes it’s the fact that we want to do certain things in relation to the position and that’s it. What I want is for them to be in the state that they are in. They have to be used and when they are playing, whether it is to a starter game or for a few minutes, they are fully ready and both of them have been really good at that.”
