Oxford United played out a scrappy goalless draw in West London on Wednesday night as the U’s picked up a point at QPR.
It wasn’t the most entertaining fixture at Loftus Road but the majority of Oxford fans will be pleased with the point.

Poor Set Pieces
Oxford have looked a real threat from set pieces in recent weeks, with the victory at Bristol City a particular highlight as the U’s scored all three goals from dead-ball situations.
Unfortunately, at Loftus Road, Gary Rowett’s side squandered several opportunities from these positions, with the usually reliable Brian De Keersmaecker often over-hitting some of his attempts.
Despite that, a game is changed in a second and the U’s could have left West London, ironically with a chance from a set piece, when Michal Helik headed wide four minutes into stoppage time.
But the U’s will be looking to get back to the training ground and work on this ahead of another trip to the area when they face Watford on Saturday.
Lack of Attacking Input
As mentioned in the intro, it was a scrappy game from both sides with QPR the only side to register a solitary shot on target.
Both goalkeepers were spectators for the majority of the game, but Jamie Cumming was on hand on the one occasion that he was tested.
At the other end, Oxford’s chances were few and far between and despite the front four looking lively in recent games, they lacked a clinical edge at Loftus Road.
Clean Sheet
However, at the other end of the pitch, it was a solid and impressive display from the back four.
Rowett named an unchanged starting lineup, which meant Jack Currie, Sam Long, Helik, and Brodie Spencer were once again the defensive options.
The quartet put their bodies on the line against a physical R’s side and were determined to get their first clean sheet of the season.
