Nottingham Forest enjoyed several memorable moments during the 2024/25 season, which saw them qualify for the Europa League. It had been a relatively quiet transfer window so far, but activity appears to be increasing with Arnaud Kalimuendo linked with the club, and now David Ornstein is reporting that Forest are in the process of agreeing a £37.5m fee with Ipswich Town for Omari Hutchinson.

Nottingham Forest in Talks to Boost Attack with Ipswich Star
After narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification, Forest appear determined to improve on last season. Despite the departure of Anthony Elanga, the club have signed Dan Ndoye, Igor Jesus, and Jair Cunha. It now appears the club have identified Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson, previously described as “destined for stardom.”
The Athletic reveal that club-to-club talks are at an advanced stage, with personal terms thought to not be an issue. The 21-year-old has already attracted a £35million opening bid from Forest, which was rejected. While a deal is not completed, it appears everything is almost in place for Forest to add another piece to their Europa League jigsaw. Should the deal be completed, this would break Forest’s previous transfer record of £35m for the signing of Dan Ndoye. They are also close to securing the signing of Manchester City midfielder James McAtee. These transfers, along with the new contract for Morgan Gibbs-White, are huge boosts for the club.
Omari Hutchinson
Hutchinson made 32 appearances, recording three goals and two assists, in all competitions last season, in what was a disappointing season for Ipswich, who finished 19th and were relegated. The 21-year-old left Arsenal’s youth system to join Chelsea, but after only two appearances, he left Stamford Bridge for Portman Road.
On his day, Hutchinson is a joy to watch. He possesses plenty of pace and skill to leave his opponents floundering. One sharp turn and he’s capable of transforming something mundane into a dangerous attack. He will also bring versatility to the Forest team, where he can play on either wing or in the no.10 role. His work rate will also endear him to the City Ground faithful. If Forest can get this deal done, this could be a big signing for Nuno Espírito Santo, and one that will give them more options ahead of their Europa League journey.
