‘Deal Sealed ASAP’: Leeds United Rush to Send New Bid for ‘Prolific’ Forward

Staying up in the Premier League as a promoted side is a very difficult task these days, with the last six teams failing to do so. However, Leeds have gone about this summer transfer window in a way that suggests they may have a pretty good shot at succeeding. After already completing seven signings, Leeds United have now sent a new bid for Igor Paixão.

Leeds United Attempt to Complete Eighth Summer Signing As Soon As Possible

Leeds United Send ‘Improved Bid’ for Igor Paixão

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leeds are trying hard to complete the signing of Paixão quickly. They have reportedly “improved their bid” to Feyenoord today (July 26) as they try to get the “deal sealed ASAP”. He describes the Whites as “pushing with intention to close the story and reach full agreement with Feyenoord”, as the first gameweek of the new season dawns (it is now under three weeks away).

The Brazilian winger had attracted interest from other European clubs, with French giants Olympique Marseille keen on him. Romano had reported that they were “close” to a deal on July 19, with a fee in excess of €30 million (~£26 million) demanded by the Dutch outfit. It can only be assumed that the Peacocks are bidding in a similar region.

Summer Business Suggests Good Chance of Survival

Leeds’ summer business has been exciting fans, and suggests that they may have a good chance of survival. The signing of new goalkeeper Lucas Perri is huge: Illan Meslier struggled last campaign. Sean Longstaff brings crucial experience, whilst the incomings of Anton Stach, Gabriel Gudmundsson, Jaka Bijol, and Sebastiaan Bornauw are all great physical presences.

Whilst critics have outlined the number nine as a position in need of strengthening, Paixão could help to fix this problem from the left-wing. The ‘prolific’ forward netted an impressive 16 in the Eredivisie last campaign (alongside ten assists), with his signature trait cutting inside onto his strong foot. This could be key should they fail to bring in a new striker.
