Nottingham Forest in Talks to Sign ‘A Lethal Threat on the Flanks’

Nottingham Forest narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification for the 2025/26 season, but will compete in the Europa Conference League instead. The 2024/25 campaign was a memorable one for the “Tricky Trees,” and despite the impending departure of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle, Forest have plenty to look forward to. As reported by Ben Jacobs, Forest are in talks to sign PSV winger Johan Bakayoko.

Despite the likely departure of Elanga, Forest will be looking to strengthen ahead of their European adventure. Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports has reported that theTricky Treeshave held positive discussions with Callum Hudson-Odoi’s representatives regarding a new contract, one that the club will undoubtedly be eager to finalise.

Ben Jacobs X post described Bakayoko as a potential replacement for Elanga, with PSV valuing the winger at around £30 million. Forest are set to receive £55 million for Elanga, with £3 million of bonuses as revealed by David Ornstein.

Johan Bakayoko has previously been described as “a lethal threat on the flanks,” and one the “Tricky Trees” faithful will be grateful for, filling in the void of Elanga’s departure.

He is a nightmare to face with his directness and electrifying pace. His dribbling ability is one of his strongest assets, as is his crossing. Chris Wood is usually the focal point of the Forest attack, and he will be a great outlet for a winger like Bakayoko.

Whether Forest gets the deal done remains to be seen, but Bakayoko would be a more than adequate replacement for Anthony Elanga.
