Liverpool Iron Out ‘Final Club to Club Details’ for Hungarian ‘Top Talent’ With Here We Go Soon

Liverpool are looking to reshape their squad after securing the 2024/25 Premier League title, as they look to compete for more major titles next season. They appear to be closing in on signing the possible replacement for the departed Caoimhin Kelleher, in Hungarian youngster Armin Pecsi.

Liverpool Set for Surprising Armin Pecsi Move

Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Reds are now ready to agree to a deal with Hungarian side Puskas Akademia FC for the signing of their 20-year-old goalkeeper in the summer window. He claims that the youngster has said yes to the Reds’ project and greenlit a move to Anfield in the summer.

The journalist also adds that this will be a record sale for the Hungarian club, but an exact financial value on the deal has not been mentioned yet. Romano also claims it is now just the “final club to club details” to be ironed out to strike an agreement on a transfer and that it is “all done on player side”, which will help them secure a deal soon. The journalist adds that a “here we go, soon” will come, with the Premier League champions seemingly working quickly behind the scenes to secure this transfer. Pecsi is likely to act as a replacement for Kelleher, who was recently sold by the Reds to Brentford for a rumoured £18 million fee.

Who Is Armin Pecsi?

This is poised to be a bit of a surprising transfer because the Reds weren’t really linked to the “top talent” that much in the past. Pecsi is a product of the Puskas Akademia FC system, having played for their youth teams before becoming their senior goalkeeper. He made 36 appearances for the Hungarian club across all competitions in the 2024/25 season, keeping 11 clean sheets and conceding 43 goals.

He helped them to a second-place finish in the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I (Hungarian top division) last season, keeping nine clean sheets in 30 league games. The 20-year-old has clearly impressed Liverpool’s scouts with his performances in Hungary and has also played for Hungary’s under-21 side in the past. With the incoming Giorgi Mamardashvili set to compete with Alisson Becker for the no. 1 role at Liverpool next season, Pecsi is likely to act as a third choice goalkeeper option for the Reds and might play for their reserves side once he arrives at Anfield.
