Fabrizio Romano Provides Latest on Rayan Cherki Future
Romano has reported that Manchester City are in club-to-club talks with Lyon for Cherki and hints that a deal should advance quickly next week. It’s also revealed that the fee will be in excess of £25 million. Romano also states that Man City are confident in completing the deal in the next few days alongside Tijjani Reijnders.
City finished third in the Premier League, which would have been way below where they intended to be this season. They struggled for consistency in the first half of the season, with many of their attacking players underperforming in crucial fixtures. It won’t be of surprise that they are looking for new signings to improve for next season.
Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas has been full of praise for Cherki: “Cherki is comparable to Messi in terms of technical quality,” said Aulas. This praise reflects just how well Cherki performed last season. In Ligue 1 last season, he played thirty times, scoring 8 goals, and providing 11 assists for his teammates.
The 21-year-old is a huge talent and would provide plenty of competition for the players currently at City while providing Pep Guardiola with a mercurial option.
Rayan Cherki Man United Interest
Manchester United enjoyed another trophyless season while finishing 15th in the league. Ruben Amorim will be eager to change things for next season and the club had been linked with Cherki, a player who impressed against the Red Devils in the Europa League this season and could provide a much-needed boost for the Old Trafford faithful.
