This is a Manchester United predicted lineup for their Europa Conference League clash with Athletic Bilbao on May 8. This is the second leg and the English side boast a strong 3-0 lead but they will have learned not to get complacent after some poor defensive displays in Europe recently. This was evident in how the manager made wholesale changes for the Premier League this past weekend, clearly prioritising the available route into the Champions League.

How Manchester United Have Lined Up Recently
Andre Onana normally starts in goal but was switched out for Altay Bayindir during the massive rotation at the weekend. Similarly the back line usually sees Harry Maguire partner Leny Yoro and Noussair Mazraoui whenever Matthijs de Ligt is unavailable. Luke Shaw has come back in to the side as a wide centre-back with Tyler Fredericson and Victor Lindelof the other rotational options.

The wing-backs are specialised spots that can only be filled by a handful of players, Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot are the main options but Harry Amass has emerged as a decent cover option if needed on the left.
Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, and Christian Eriksen can play in the middle of the park with Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes usually asked to support the striker. Mason Mount made his comeback in at the weekend and replaced Fernandes. Rasmus Hojlund is the striker of choice although Chido Obi got a PL start against Brentford.
Manchester United Recent Form & Tactics
The Red Devils have used Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 setup throughout the season with players still adjusting to their new roles under the coach who came in for Erik ten Hag. Injuries haven’t helped the adaption period and the formation still has notable gaps in efficiency.

Results are a mixed bag for the team. They’re currently in the midst of a historically bad Premier League season and haven’t actually won domestically since March 16. Since then, they’ve lost 4-1 to Newcastle, 4-3 to the Bees, and drawn some matches. In Europe, this form is slightly turned around having avoided defeat in their last five outings.
Manchester United Injuries to Consider
According to PremierInjuries, there are a number of problems for the manager to work around. Dalot and De Ligt are the main two, but the lack of Tobias Collyer, Lisandro Martinez, Joshua Zirkzee, and Ayden Heaven further reduces his options to play his preferred eleven.
