Team News, Form and Prediction as Oxford United Welcome QPR

Oxford United will be looking to capitalise on their impressive win over Sheffield United when they welcome QPR on Wednesday night.

The U’s battled hard against the Blades and the victory moved Gary Rowett’s side four points clear of the drop.

Team News, Form and Prediction

That victory means it’s now two wins in three for Oxford, with both coming at Grenoble Road. Oxford know three points against the R’s would be significant in their hunt for Championship survival.

As for QPR, they’re sleepwalking into a relegation battle themselves with the West London club failing to secure a win in their last seven games. The R’s drew against relegation strugglers Cardiff last time out but have recently held Leeds to a credible draw at Loftus Road, although had led the game 2-0. QPR have also lost their last six away games in succession and are now just one point clear of Oxford, despite looking relatively comfortable in mid-table.

Cameron Brannagan made a return from injury against Sheffield United, as did Joe Bennett from the bench. Greg Leigh could be in contention to come back into the squad but skipper Elliott Moore remains sidelined.

QPR are without Steve Cook, Zan Celar, Rayan Kolli, Illas Chair and top-scorer, Michael Frey. Koki Saito will serve the last of his three-game suspension against the U’s.

Oxford’s defeat at QPR back in December was the turning point for Des Buckingham’s reign as head coach, with the R’s struggling in 20th spot at the time. The U’s have lost their last three meetings but all three did come in West London, with Oxford winning the last time QPR were the visiting side.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Ciaron Brown, Ben Nelson, Michal Helik, Hidde ter Avest, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Siriki Dembele, Ole Romeny, Przemyslaw Placheta, Mark Harris.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-1 QPR
