How Manchester United Have Lined-up Recently

Since Amorim’s arrival in November, Manchester United have lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with André Onana in goal for Premier League matches.

Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire and Matthijs De Ligt have been the regular back three of late, with new signing Patrick Dorgu and Diogo Dalot manning the wing-back positions.

Two of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte have been operating in central midfield, with Fernandes also used as a number 10 when Ugarte is available. Alongside Fernandes, Joshua Zirkzee and Alejandro Garnacho have been given chances to impress, with Rasmus Hojlund as the central striker.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

Inconsistent would be the best way to describe United’s form of late, with the team languishing in 15th place in the Premier League but progressing well in the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League. Saturday’s battling draw at Goodison Park followed a dismal run of results that included home defeats to Crystal Palace and Brighton and an away defeat at fellow strugglers Tottenham Hotspur. If the Red Devils are to climb their way out of the rut in which they find themselves, tightening up at the back and scoring more goals are of the utmost urgency.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Lisandro Martinez and Amad Diallo are sidelined for the season, whilst Toby Collyer, Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw are expected back in March and April respectively. Mason Mount, Jonny Evans and Altay Bayindir are recovering, but not yet ready for first-team action.
