Team News, Form and Prediction as Oxford United Welcome Coventry

Oxford United will be looking to end a run of six games without a win when the U’s welcome in-form Coventry to Grenoble Road.

Gary Rowett’s side have lost successive games 2-0 against Portsmouth and West Brom, respectively, but are still eight points clear of the drop.

Team News, Form and Prediction

The defeat against Portsmouth was a bad one, considering John Mousinho’s side are also at the wrong end of the table, but the Baggies loss, on the whole, was almost to be expected against a side chasing promotion.

Coventry are also on the hunt for a top-six finish and are looking good under Frank Lampard, with seven wins from their last eight league games. The Sky Blues have also won their last three away fixtures and are just one point outside the playoffs on 50 points.

Oxford will be relying on their home form to avoid the drop back to the third tier but haven’t won in their last two at Grenoble Road. Coventry have the seventh-best away record this season, with five wins and five draws on their travels.

Joe Bennett has joined fellow left-back Greg Leigh on the sidelines, but there could be a welcome return to the starting line-up for captain Elliott Moore. Tom Bradshaw and Ben Nelson remain injured.

Lampard is without Victor Torp, while top-scorer Haji Wright is a doubt for the trip. Captain Ben Sheaf made a return from the bench last time out against Preston.

Coventry are unbeaten in their last four meetings against Oxford, winning three, although that solitary draw did come at Grenoble Road. The Sky Blues won earlier this season in the Carabao Cup and scored a late winner in the league meeting.

Predicted line-up: Jamie Cumming, Ciaron Brown, Elliott Moore, Michal Helik, Stan Mills, Will Vaulks, Cameron Brannagan, Peter Kioso, Ruben Rodrigues, Tyler Goodrham, Ole Romeny.

Prediction: Oxford United 2-1 Coventry City
