Spiky Ruben Amorim refuses to clarify Man Utd transfer frustration

Manchester United Predicted Lineup vs Newcastle United

Manchester United will look to end a dreadful run of form at home to Newcastle United on Monday night (December 30, 8PM Kick off). How Manchester United Have Lined-Up Recently

Manchester United have switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation since Amorim took charge, with André Onana a near ever-present in goal.

Lény Yoro has gradually been introduced into the line-up, starting alongside Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez against Wolves. Matthijs de Ligt was a regular in the back three prior to his recent illness-enforced absence, with Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof also providing cover when required.

At wing-back, Noussair Mazraoui, Amad Diallo, Diogo Dalot and Tyrell Malacia have rotated as starters, with the Moroccan also operating at centre-back for a large part of Amorim’s tenure to date.

In midfield, Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo have begun to form a partnership, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen providing rotation options. Captain Bruno Fernandes has also provided an option is deeper-lying midfielder at times, although the Portuguese has reverted to his traditional number 10 role in recent games.

Along with Fernandes, Amad and Alejandro Garnacho have occupied the attacking midfield positions, with Joshua Zirkzee alternating between the attacking midfield and number nine positions. Rasmus Hojlund is Amorim’s preferred option in the striker role.

Manchester United Recent Form and Tactics

With four defeats in the past six games in all competitions, the Red Devils sit in 14th place in the Premier League and, with games against Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal coming up, they face a daunting task to get their season back on track. One of the team’s major Achilles heels of late has been defending set pieces, with Mateus Cunha’s Olimpico the latest in a long line of defensive mishaps. This vulnerability, along with a prolonged toothlessness in attack, leaves former Sporting Lisbon manager Amorim scratching around for solutions to arrest this extended slump in form.

Manchester United Injuries to Consider

Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte both miss out through suspension, with Mason Mount (Thigh), Luke Shaw (Calf) and Victor Lindelof (Unknown) missing out through injury.
